With the increase of the port activities in Pointe-Noire, the Société ferroviaire et portuaire de Pointe-Noire (SFPPN) wanted to rehabilitate and improve the facilities on the site formerly belonging to Wabush Mines Limited. The project thereby consisted in restoring all the ore handling equipment, from the dumper house (train unloading) to the ship loader. Since these facilities had not been used in the last five years, they required some substantial work to ensure their rehabilitation.
